Here are answers to some of the most commonly asked MotherVenture questions!

Q: Do you have to be a mother to join?

A: Absolutely not! We have mothers, grandmothers, and women without children in MotherVenture.

Q: Why is it called MotherVenture?

A: The original group was formed to cater to moms who had their own businesses. We offered childcare, less time commitment and lower dues than other networking groups, and it was scheduled at a convenient time for moms.

By the time we began the trademark process, the group had grown into several and included women from all walks of life. After careful consideration, we opted to keep the word "mother" as part of our name since it enveloped everything we were to our members ventures (nurturing, supportive, encouraging, guiding, etc)

Q: What is a meeting like?

A: Our meetings are always 1.5 hours long. All meetings are run along this format:

Reading of Mission Statement: MotherVenture strives to bring support and business growth to its members. Building trusting relationships among women through frequent contact, open discussion, positive attitudes, and ethical business practices establishes a reliable foundation on which each member can depend. A MotherVenture member is an invaluable part of her network, giving and receiving support in an effort to grow her business and those of her fellow members.

OMM (One Minute Marketing): Members and guests take turns telling us who they are, what they do, and how we can help them.

General Business: Changes to agenda, upcoming events, and information handed down from Headquarters is discussed here.

Member Presentation: A member offers a ten-minute presentation of her company and/or product. This is a great way for other members to get to know exactly what she does so that we can better promote her.

Round Table Topic: Each meeting we focus on a topic of interest to women in business. Examples of past topics include: Time Management, Power of Presence, Developing Your Marketing Plan, Free and Cheap Ways to Promote Your Business, Public Speaking Tips, Office Organizing, Marketing to Women, Networking Etiquette

Swaps: Members take turns exchanging referrals, testimonials, and/or positive comments.
